Has anyone ever experienced a Rhodactis Mushroom taking over a tank? More specifically an SPS tank but I'm open to hearing about if any tank they have been prolific reproducers.

Mushrooms certainly can grow to epic proportions. I haven't heard of this being a rhodactis issue though. Typically it is the old school red or green shrooms.

rhodactus do not generally grow fast enough to do that, besides certain types like hairy mushrooms

In an sps tank likely not, mine only started growing at all after I lost interest and started neglecting my tank, so i think they like dirty tanks.

Yea, from what I've seen Discosomas are the primary culprits.

I'm not too worried either, just checking around really.

Yes I also have a couple of variety of ricordea in that tank, but the rhodactis growth excelled after I started to let the tank go a bit, not taking over growth. I think in a clean sps tank they may actually benefit from some spot feeding.

I certainly did have a plague of green hairy mushrooms. Went from one to over 200 in about 2 years.

Would like to see some pictures of this take over. I am sure it makes the tank look interesting.

I had metalic green and also blue shrooms take over my 75. They were killing my corals. I had to do a reboot removing a couple rocks at a time and drying them out to kill the little buggers.
