I’ve had a ribbon eel for about 6 months now and he’s doing very well. However he’s had this odd “bubble” like thing that looks like it’s attached to his fin in front of his gill. It doesn’t appear to have anything to do with his gill. The “bubble” appears loosely attached to his fin and kind of dangles loosely.

He acts perfectly normals and eats well. Just curious as to what this is and if it’s harmful. I asked my lfs guy and he said that he doesn’t know what it is but that he has seen it many times with no noticeable effect.

How long has it been there, could it actually be coming out of his gills. Like something that he ate and got expelled through his gills and got stuck.

Been there for several months. It really doesn’t look like it’s coming from his gills, it looks attached to his fin just in front of the gill.

It started off small and grew to the size it is now over maybe 2 months. I haven’t noticed any growth since.
