Thanks so much! (Still Tiling!)

Here is a shot of the ceiling ... had the electrician put outlets for the lights over the tank. I plan on a combination of retrofit T5's and Radions

Tiling work inside the fish room is finally winding down!

I couldn't resist a Home Depot trip to get some plumbing materials! The glass for dividing up the sump is ready for pick up as well!

I hopefully will dry fit the pipe next week ... although the rest of the basement is also calling me ... the wet part of the tank will likely have to wait quite a while until that mess is out of the house.

So excited that I can finally open the Protein Skimmer ... I've had it around here for a while and really excited to ultimately see it in it's new home!

I also did some rough plumbing work. I'm not happy with the look of regular Home Depot PVC ... so I may invest in a black PVC ????

... and finally ... I tore myself away from the fish room and did some drywall work in the "Gym" area.

I have finally gotten back to doing some work that involves the tank - drywalling the viewing area!

The first step here was putting in the ceiling which includes starlight fiber optics. I'm not sure if it will turn out cool - like watching the reef outside at night ??? ... or just "cheesy" ... But I figured if it doesn't look good then I just won't turn it on (no harm / no foul). Here are some photos:

Good thing I’m in Maryland :D:eek:

Awesome build so far! Can’t wait to see it progress!

Just curious on the fiber optic lights as I'm no home improvement expert...are they going to be trimmed and be flush with the ceiling? Are they going to remain the way they currently are? Neat feature either way.

Yes, they are going to be trimmed right next to the ceiling once the drywall has been painted.

There is a control box in the bulkhead that is plugged into an outlet that I’ve put on a light switch. I’ll put an access panel in the bulkhead

Nice to see a fellow Marylanders build! If i were you, I’d make a movable shadow box for when guests come over!

I’m not sure exactly what a shadow box might be ... can you explain?

Thanks

It is a background that uses blue frosted materials layered with dark shapes to create amazing depth. Sorry idk specifics.

I've been drywalling, spackling, and sanding the other areas of the basement. But the tile for around the aquarium came in and I will be moving back there tomorrow and am looking forward to posting pictures. In the meantime, here are a few shots of other areas to keep the build thread active.
