High light, low light, high flow, low flow, although in direct light they are pretty I haven't found a ricordia mushroom that doesn't kill any thing it touches. Imo they are worse than xenia or gsp, just cant eradicate them. I try and eradicate them as they sting and kill any coral they touch. They are pretty but invasive and toxic to other corals. Cut them off and smash and scrape remnants and if even a pinhead size piece survives it starts to grow back to a full size shroom. Recently put some aiptasia x on the mouth of one just to see what happened and although it receded to nothing it started to grow back into a full size shroom. If anyone one has a 100% eradication solution I am all ears.
It seems that it is the only coral in my tank that is unhappy. I have previously said it was close to other corals but its 4" from anything in my tank. It is on the sand bed and was at one point very healthy and happy.
They like higher nitrates like 15-20. If yours are less than 5 they will shrink up. If you give them too much light, especially white LED light they will shrivel up.
I thought it seemed happy when my nitrates were high. Since I added a couple sps I have been doing weekly water changes to keep my phosphate in check. You reccomend removing it from my tank? I dont think it's the Lighting because it was happy for a couple months before I added the spa. I have an AI prime hd and downloaded a light setting off of their site.
