I have been considering getting one but am unsure how to care for them. What tips does anyone have to keep them healthy and ensure that they reproduce?

The ones we used to have liked moderate light and flow. They acclimated rather fast too. Once happy they grew quickly.
Do they require any feeding to really thrive? I have heard that people put a rock under them to get them to move and leave a piece of themselves behind.

I always broadcast fed them with oyster feast and reef roids. I actually started with 2 ricordea on a large flat rock and within the year there were well over 25 ricordea on the rock. Blue and orange with green mouths. Wish I still had a picture, it was years ago.

How often did you feed the reef roids

You can wait on pedal laceration where they basically tear themselves into smaller pieces or cut them with a sharp blade:

I have one that's been in my tank for about 8 months. Absolutely beautiful but hasn't multiplied.

I have it in on the bottom front of the the display. I'd love to have a ton of these guys but I'm not sure if their happy in my tank. :(
