Hey everyone,

I recently glues down my ricordea onto my rock- I fear that the side of it may be glued down to the rock as well.
It seems that it is not extending as much as the rest of the coral.

Will this effect the coral long-term? Should I try to pull it off and re glue?

Thanks everyone!

P.S.

I have circled the area in which I believe it may be stuck to the rock.

Update; I tried to get it off last night but the coral just got really upset and shriveled.... should I try again? I’m just kind of using a small blade to cut it off from the rock.

I would let it be. It will slowly pull away from the rock. The underside of the mushroom is like a foot on an anemone, it's living tissue and should not be glued.

Hey!

I understand that.. however I believe it is already glued to the rock... I think it I accidentally put glue on part of it, and now it’s stuck. I’m just wondering if it will ever free itself?

Thanks!:)

It will for sure. Sorry I misunderstood. I have accidentally done that too. It will slowly detach and should be ok.

You might get lucky and get another out of it from the piece it leaves behind. That's what happened to my yuma

Ok,
Thank you so much! I’m glad I didn’t try to rip it off... probably would have damaged it more.

I've taken razerblades, injecting with boiling water, and any number of things trying to rid my tank of the Ricordia takeover. All they do is sprout more. In fact the only way I could get rid of them was to cover them with coral puddy but even then, if I didn't cover every last crevasse, they managed to free themselves. And trying to cut them from the rock was a terrible idea because every little piece left, just becomes a new head. Eventually I just removed the entire piece of rock.

I hate them so much lol

Yours will be fine. :)
