Ricordea question

Hello everyone

Can someone tell me why this guy aint opening up or the reason of the position it is in right now, positioning? Waterflow? There are 2 diff pieces and they both are like that and are not spreading up

i ran tests yeterday and everything was fine

That's likely bleached. I have had a lot of ricordea in my time, and when they look like that, hate to say it, but it has a 50/50 chance of making it. 1 your tank might be to nutrient poor or you may have hit it with too much light to quick.

They are tough to kill but when they are clearish white, they are in bad shape. I'd move it to lower light if possible and hope for the best. Are there other corals that are doing okay?

Curious, what do you consider fine parameters? Ricordea thrive in relatively dirty water.

I think the light might be the issue since i have it at the top of the tank, i got other corals but they are doing fine, i mean zoas are spreading thru out the area they are in, and other mushrooms open up cool, and from what i see is not that its bleaching, its like if its flipped to its back side, i think

Id put it in low light until it recovers. Sand bed would be good. And dont move until good color returns. If it gets brown goo, make sure to 'dust' it off.

Nuff said bro what about feeding? What do you suggest for coral food?

Ive never seen ricordea respond to feeding. Fish poop is fine. On my previous softy tanks, I always fed heavy.

My florida ricordea will swallow pellets. I used the finest size sinking pellets. I feed mine a pellet or 2 daily.

all of mine like lower light, under a rock shelf etc.
I've brought them back from conditions worse than what you have though, so there is still hope.

Exactly. Ricordea are low light corals. Stick him under a shelf, or in an unlit part of the tank and pray.
