I recently had some 2 zoa frags covered in brown hydroids, I looked around and could not find anything on how to get rid of them. Instead of tossing them out I decided to do a high concentrated dip in some hydrogen peroxide, I didn't measure it but I'm guessing it was around 30-40%. I let them soak for around 25 mins, it was too the point where some of the polyps had bubbles in them and the frag floated, I then dipped them in an iodine dip for another 10 mins before rinsing and returning them to the tank, the next day to my surprise both frags were hydriod free :-)

Considering the one of the frags still has a bunch of polyps still closed I only recommend this as a last resort, I used this dip knowing that is could have killed the frag, please use at your own risk

I have also done this. It worked for me aswell.

Glad to hear you got them off of your zoas!

Thanks for posting this experience. I'm struggling with the same problem and this gives me a lead. How did the treatment work out long term? Still hydroid free? What concentration of Iodine did you use? I've been experimenting with hydrogen perodixe dips and found they aren't very effecive alone but maybe the 1, 2 dip is my answer.

I'm still hydroid free, it was a weakish concentration of iodine, I have a 2 quart buckets and just but a couple drops in it.

be careful ....i also had hydroids in one of my zoa colony's and dipped them in peroxide ..about 40% for about 15 minutes and also into iodine afterwards and every hydroid died as well as every zoa polyp died 2 days later...my frag plug they were mounted to was nice and clean tho...... they just never opened back up and melted away
