Ok guys, try not to laugh here, but I have a but of a dilemma. I've had a single polyp frag of Duncanopsammia axifuga(Duncan) coral, not the common greenish red huge Duncan's but the smaller ones that are mainly all white with teal on the oral disc. Anyways, this guy has an insatiable appetite. I'm talking I feed this thing mysis every day in droves, it's nuts.
Here's where the problem is, this morning I check the tank and apparently since I run an open top a piece of my wife's hair fell in the tank and this thing is munching down a piece of human hair. I tried to pull it out but he's holding for dear life and I don't want to hurt him and pull too hard. Obviously he can't digest this right? Anyone else with an eccentric type experience like this?

Also side bar but I've been wondering the best flow rate for my green nepthea, it was in slower flow and I added another powerhead and idk if its liking it as much. Any experience with nepthea either anyone?

Thank you in advance, sorry for long post.

I would just use a pair of scissors to cut the hair more closely to the duncans mouth. It will figure it out.

I've had issue with wives hair too, sometime they will get into the tank and wrap around acropora causing some fairly serious issues.

Right after I posted this I decided to say screw it and just pull it out as hard as I could considering he's been dealing with it since last night. So yeah it's out now lol. That's pretty crazy though dude, I beet your acros get severely irritated then? Usually I just net it as soon as I see it, but if I don't get it right away this Duncan will grab anything and it isn't the first time this has happened, but it is the first prolonged incident, dunno how it got rid of them before but it didn't last long.

Might make the wife shave her head. ;-)

Yeah the hair will wrap around the branches and gather detritus and cause the acro to slime up in that area. If it isn't removed it can cause some damage to the issue.

Wow. Yeah that sounds pretty detrimental logz. Your explanation of the issues that arise is dead on though, it's funny because when I yanked the hair out you could see that there's was a bit of detritus on it as well, and its only been a night. Home reefer problemsss.
