Ridiculous fish foods

How about bananas?

How about bananas?

Interesting! I have heard they are a good source of fiber for goldfish.

This was few years back, and I had a new girlfriend stay over the one night, and then left her alone in my apt when I went to the gym in the morning.
When I came back, I noticed an oily film on the surface of the water.

I asked her if she had fed my fish, and she said they looked so hungry and kept asking for food whenever she went close to the tank.

So decided to treat them with Dark Chocolate and Salted Crisps. Which they appeared to love by the way.

I always wondered if some of these random foods could be potentially toxic. Like how grapes, chocolate, garlic etc are for dogs.

Toxic could be intestinal upset, not necessarily death.

It’s just important to remember that animals are not humans and may not be able to handle the same foods.

I used to feed my dog grapes as a kid having no idea they were toxic. She loved them! Luckily it was only a few every once and awhile. It can cause kidney failure

Wow, was she your girlfriend for long after that ?
Haha she had a good heart and loved them all. She just had zero experience and I had to show her. She always fed them proper fish food after that. They always had fat stomachs if I ever left alone with them.

I used to feed my brackish puffers live and frozen fiddler crabs, coquina clams, and sand fleas I would catch at the beach. Plus live shrimp I had leftover from fishing.

Those have got to be the most spoiled puffers I have ever heard of :)! Which was their favorite?

I had a customer, whose tank I used to service years ago, nuke the tank by pouring in a bottle of wine and leftover spaghetti with red sauce. He called me the next day saying his fish were dying. I went over to see what was wrong, took one look at the tank and told him to find a different service and walked out. The wine bottle was at the bottom of the tank. Drugs are bad.

Human vomit seems to be a favorite in the wild for fish.
I'm a newbie (current tank is only 4 months old), but I'll bite...

My chocolate chip starfish absolutely loves the "fresh" oysters that come in a jar at the grocery store. (Fresh was the funny part). He's the first invert I ever bought (and has made two tank jumps) and is still with us after buying him at PetCo about 6 months ago BUT:
...uhhh,,, yeah, don't do that -- makes your water oily and smelly, and then you just feel like you coulda come up with something "fresher".

On the vomit thing,,, just quickly:
-- I was Jr SCUBA certified at age 10 in the late '70s and on one trip:
-- my step dad literally puked through his regulator immediately after we jumped into the water >>> I'd never seen so many fish that close up (((and we weren't even into the kelp beds yet)))
