Rimless Acrylic Tank

Does anyone have experience with taking the outer layer of plastic and residue off their acrylic tank? I'd like to go rimless but not sure if it's as simple as cutting the frame, ripping it off, and scraping the acrylic with a razor then buffing the whole thing? I'm worried about the residuals..

I searched and I could only find videos on removing frames from GLASS. Thanks any way.

I don't even know, I got it used and can't find it online either

It may be hard to remove the silver rim of the tank depending on the adhesive that they used. If it is a glue it creates a chemical bond and melts the acrylic. If that is the case and you are able to remove the rim you would have to sand with various grits and polish the tank. Hopefully it is just silicone.

You may be able to tell from looking through the inside out to the silver part.

I believe it is simply aesthetic. Same reason I want to get it off lol. I'm thinking I will spray black plastidip on it when I spray the background. The hood on it is perfect for evaporation, fish safety and various lighting.
