So, I thought putting together the DIY Innovative Marine mesh lid would be pretty simple... Turns out, it was not. Long story short, total failure. Firstly, it doesn't have enough corners to account for the mounted light, cords, etc... Secondly, it's just a pain in the butt to measure it perfectly and cut it without any issues. This is for an IM Nuvo 50 EXT.

So, what options have you folks used? I'm going to order a custom lid from Clearview, however, it could take up to 2 months... Need a short-term solution as I don't want to lose any fish to the floor...

Thanks so much!

Short term solution would be egg crate over the top

Make your lid a simple square to cover as much as possible. Leave extra netting where your lights and cords will be. Don’t trim the netting on the side you have cords and things. Place it on the tank and trim the netting to go around any obstructions. Tape the end of the netting down or weight it down between obstacles, otherwise it will still let fish jump.

The egg crate would've been a smart move. I ordered the DD Jumpguard, as it comes with a few corners to account for cords, the light, etc. We shall see.... Overall, these products as a whole seem like garbage.

DIY would be go to lowes buy the screen frame and corners, screen tool and than go to Joanne fabrics to get clear mesh, cost is around $40. How i know this cause that is what i did and it worked out perfect

unfortunately even the DIY window screen netting kits don't have inside corners. I got around that problem by designing and 3D printing inside corners that fit the aluminum frames. unless you can do something like that your options are pretty thin on a good looking DIY screen top

Egg crate w/ the IM clips is what I'm using on my 60 cube right now.

If you're looking for quality, you should hit up @cromag27 over at OctoAquatics. He will work with you to build you an awesome one with all the zigs and zags you need.

+1 for Clearview. One of the best uses of money I've spent in this hobby. I would get egg crate and just lay it over (don't try to get it just right). You will be so happy with the acrylic lid.
