I ordered a rimless custom tank, starfire on all 4 sides, at 12mm thickness. tank size is 48 x 24 x 18 (H). i started to think this maybe pushing the limit. I dont have a formula to calculate the water pressure of the 100 gallon and the silicone seam strength as well as the rate of expansion of glass/silicone etc by temperature. i dont know the strength of the glass anyway. There are many other factors of course. Would you please give me your opinion about this tank? i love to have thinner glass but would go up thicker if this is going to be a disaster.

I would say yes since its only 18" deep. Is the bottom the same thickness?

I'm certainly not a tank builder, but 12 mm (almost half inch) seems about right. I have the deep blue 60 frag in my system, and it's 10 mm for a 12" height.
