I have about 120lbs of dry sand for a new tank and want to rinse it. My ro/dI barrel holds about 20 gallons of clean water but the unit is a 75 gal/ day unit. Any tips on rinsing? Or am I feel like im going to go through a TON of ro/dI water doing it.

Yup I just rinse in tap with a 5 gallon bucket

Ok. How long does it take to dry in a 5 gallon bucket if you rinse with tap water. Im moving a current tank to this new tank so cant have any real down time aside from a day or two. I just wasnt sure about moving my old sand over.

I have moved several tanks. I put old or dry sand in 5 gallon buckets. Run the hose in them while stirring the sand with my hand. I do that until the water runs clear. Then pour out as much water as possible and put it in the tank. What little water is left on the sand will be so diluted with tank water it won't hurt anything.
