i had some old sand in a 5 gallon bucket sitting outside covered for about a year , i was wondering if it would be ok to use if i rinsed it real good and then let it sun dry , i want to use it fora remote sand bed i m making using a small 5 gallon tank

I just pulled mine out of the tank last night....just rinse like crazy and you should be good to go!!!

i rinsed it real good and then let it dry in the sun it didnt smell bad so i hope all is ok if not i guess ill crash and start over with a bigger tank :)
Thank you for the reply

Did you already add it?

I'll be doing the same for my new tank I'm working on not a DSB but just a regular SB. Let me know how it works for you.

I would rinse well, then literally boil it for 10 minutes, then soak in water with chlorine/chloramine treatment overnight.

Trash it. Sand is cheap and you'll never get it clean as it needs to be. I used my old sand to fill holes in my yard.

i did rinse it with real hot water and i added it yesterday , i know sand is cheap but i am out on workmans comp and my work screwed me out of getting paid for time lost so money is an issue atm
