Rio Pump Question

Hey all, question real quick. I have a Rio Pump as a return pump behind my aquarium (all-in-one tank). Everytime I unplug it to feed my Lil guys or gals. When I plug it back in it makes a loud noise and doesn't pump water. I unplug it and back in several times and then it finally starts pumping. Is it time for a new pump or am I doing something wrong?

I would break it down and clean it. If that doesnt work maybe a new impeller , a new pump is cheap enough though for a all in one

I have the same issue with a Rio pump I have. Cleaning it helped a bit, but it would continue to have the same issue. Rio pumps are not good pumps, thats why I use it for mixing water. Invest in the better brand pumps like Sicce, Ehiem, Hagen (Laguna, Fluval), etc...

Have you checked the little rubbers on the impeller shaft to see if worn or missing?

No I haven't pulled it out, it came with the tank so I don't know how old it is. I was thinking of replacing it just not sure what would fit in the area where it's at now

i use a rio 6hf with no issue. had it for a yr now.

Well I bought a new Rio Pump 20hf. I have to say what a waste of money...if I want able to replace it...it was so loud I could hear it upstairs...I ended up buying an ehiem...

Just had the same issue with the same pump. Had my Rio for 2years, and had the same issues. Last night after I turned pump back on after feeding, didn't work. Cleaned it, still nothing. What pump is a good replacement? I have a 75g, thanks
