I’m heartbroken. I’ve had it since September. I have no idea what happened..

The gigas I have is growing like a weed. All fish and sps are good. I just don’t get it. It really sucks.

Did you check the bottom for pyrimids snails? Add any new fish that could have stressed it?

None. I’ve had her since September. She was super happy. None of my fish ever messed with her. I’m devastated.

Yeah I could have been a million things. I tried my best to house her the best I could. Everything else seems perfectly fine. Who knows. Still pretty sad..

I am now a firm believer that maximas do best in the rockwork, completely off the sand. Not sure what your exact placement was but figured I would share regardless. Sorry for your loss.

Squammosas fair better on the sand from what I’ve learned. Or may not. This one was about 10 inches across. It was a beast.

They still need a lot of light (for long term health) on the bottom.

Did it have symptoms of pinched mantle disease, during it's decline?

No. Never. She was fine. The only change I did was dose Vibrant which I have no stopped and have zero plans of using it again. I’m not blaming it but it was the only additive I’ve ever used. She was fine since September of last year.

I just lost the same clam bigger than a soft ball . I introduced a new clam that didnt make it a small deresa . I must of carried the pyramid snails too out big blue in aa few days it was infested. Was basking under all red leds 60o watts . Brought me to tears .

Yeah I was about to cry this morning lol. It just sucks because there’s really no way of telling what happened. All my sps are good and thriving.. I don’t understand.

IME, Vibrant is not safe for filter feeders. Feather dusters, coco worms, sponges and bivalves responded terribly to it. I imagine gorgonians may be susceptible as well.

Being that this was a rather big clam, were you feeding phyto? It could be it was just getting by on the available plankton in the tank and the Vibrant knocked it back to zero.
