I saw an AI prime do magical things in a reef tank recently

her system grew frags ten times faster than my kessils and tiny fishbowl do lol

I'm looking at a reef breeders 16-V2? I'm trying to stay "FUTURE PROOF"? I don't know. I have an email out to Red Sea about this one. So looks like I'm shopping and cleaning!

I know it’ll look sharp. We get about ten rip cleans a week for all weeks and only six examples have been chosen from ~2000 rip cleans to be part of our goat thread. There’s no pressure to rinse well.

Sand is pretty good, going to do a last wash with RO, got all that pixie dust scraped and tank setup ready to fill. Lighting issue has been resolved thanks to a member hooking it up. Here we go. Everything in tub seems
to be holding up. I dipped 3 corals in H202 due to algae build up/dino smell - we’ll see if they make it. On the home stretch. Time to coax some nems off rocks.

tap rising of sand in a living reef topically appears to be the greatest insult of all time to a living system. there are no written reefing rules that allow for this madness.

what coming is skip cycle ruby clear after pics with no dinos, though. A shocking and impermissible turnaround is being foisted on that reef

There's always somebody. I tried to give a review of the TM Syn-biotic salt and got absolutely flamed, called names....whatever....it's the internet.

The appeal is the "blank slate"....while I had no major issues, there was obviously something wrong and the setup of the tank did not allow me to "handle" most of the maintenance without causing destruction inside the tank. Trying to remove one of the larger rocks, etc. to re scape this tank. Regardless of how people feel about the sand, there was definitely some "brown parts" which smelled bad, and to me that means dinos...it was flat out dirty. After rinsing, I can't believe the water that rinsed off. Super gross. I can't imagine that is good for such a small system, let alone any tank.

I've heard so many things about sand....and the idea of rinsing it....so I'm willing to test the concept and the proof will be in a week or two.

That rinse water test is so clear I’d use it in my lemonade if I was ur neighbor. It’s technically clearer than the tap water in my apartment currently and that’s safety certified.

because dinos command stellar performance, you gotta treat them badly.

You certainly did not rush into anything. Since the summer time you’ve been able to watch about ten rip cleans come and go and update online, several non rip clean methods as alternate options have been seen in comparative tanks, several tank relocation jobs get worked that it’s really a decently weighed decision we r at today.

That rinse water test is so clear I’d use it in my lemonade if I was ur neighbor. It’s technically clearer than the tap water in my apartment currently and that’s safety certified.

because dinos command stellar performance, you gotta treat them badly.

a. Coraline has been considered an indicator of a healthy balanced system for 50yrs. You pioneers want to rewrite that rule - good luck.

b. Coraline is not a pest algae. it might be inconvenient in a handful of tanks but it's not a pest.

c. Algaes that spontaneously appear are filling an available ecological niche. Remove it and something else is going to fill that hole. Be sure to let us know what fantastic algae replaces it.

d. Brandon seems like a nice guy who genuinely wants to help people but if he really cared about your tank he would advise that while ripclean has been effective in combatting dinos or cyano in some tanks, it's probably not the best tool for fighting excess coraline. Try a razor blade. Or add more corals. Or let any type of encrusting coral grow over it. The list goes on.

Your tank *was* displaying desired stability and now you have completely destabilized it. Sorry but that is backwards.

In no way was any of this directed at coralline. The way I view coralline is:

if you like it, keep it, we dont require it scraped off in any rip clean.

if you want it gone, razor it or vinegar paper towel soak it/ whichever it takes. The last thing we care about in a rip clean is coralline agreed his looks great I can’t even grow one spot. Must be my leds too bright or something

I was hoping I missed something and you weren't actually doing this to fight coraline. I gain no pleasure from you suffering any sort of setback. I hope it all works for you.

Remember it's just words on an screen and your skin will thicken up fine.
