I had three fish survive a bad heater - shocking the entire display (from the sump) . A black Tang, a Dragon Wrasse, and A large Fox Face Rabbit fish. I lost 14 fish in that incident (posted a few times on it already). I let the 350 gallon display run it's course for about 3-4 months then this fall, around August, I started adding fish and back up to 14.
My original fox face rabbit fish never fully recovered. Not sure what was wrong, but he started swimming with his head facing thebottom of the tank. If you tapped the glass or fed he would swim normally, but, the rest of the time he rested vertically. He had leisions on one side intermittently 3-4 cuts. They'd heal up after 1-2 weeks, then the cuts would be there again. In the last few days after a water change, he had formed a sore that looked like a pimple about middle of his body on one side. And up until now his abdomen looked swollen as well. Then this giant pimple formed. (It had a hole in the center of it. ) He continued eating and swimming vertically. (Close to 3-4 months.) I thought about catching him and putting him in a QT, but, he was always so sensitive to anything I did. Changing colors anytime anything changed. I didn't want to disrupt him. I kept the water clean and did routine maintenance. Fed well etc.He was fine Saturday night when I went to bed. Sunday morning he managed to jump out and was laying on the concrete. I don't know how on this earth an 8 inch fish could jump that far, but he was a good 3-4 feet from the display.
None of my other fish show any signs of this infection which leads me to believe it was like a raised bruise from an internal bacterial infection. Is there a single parasite that could make a pimple shaped exit wound on the side of a fish?
I wanted to say flukes, but those would be dang like flukes! I'm not sure if I should dose the entire 350 gallon display with prazipro to protect the other 13 fish or just assume this was an infection that the fish had from the electricution and he never really overcame it?
