I’ve noticed my mag has been rising over the past several months. However I never dose it. I’ve only needed a small amount of BRS two part to keep Ca and Alk in check.

So can mag rise without dosing or is this likely a testing error?

Thanks!

How are you testing?

And what are the values between tests? I also don’t know that mg changes in most tanks cause issues, seen some tanks running crazy mg values with no issues.

Do a search on the forum but I think quite a few people have issues with the RS magnesium. Should try another kit like salifert and see, I’ll say that my RS was way off to Triton.

Ever figure this out? Im having thr same issue...

Just recently Started dosing and consequently testin cal Alk and mag. Well, testing mag not dosing as my Mag is running around 1470 (salifert) without any help. Wondering if it will drop eventually too.

Real magnesium decline is super slow. Not more than 1/10th of the calcium decline rate. Often 1 ppm per day or less. Water changes often keep it high, since many mixes have excessive levels.
