Rising Sun vs. Thunder and Lightning

I was wondering the comparison between the RO Rising Sun and the CC Thunder and Lightning chalice.

I have the Rising Sun and its easily the most awesome chalice in my tank, but i was wondering if anyone has BOTH the Rising Sun and the TnL for side by side comparisons.

Not to be biased, but from pictures the TnL looks very "dull" compared to the metallic Rising Sun, although they do look similar.

Thoughts?

can't confirm. but i heard both came from golden basket. i'm not sure if they were fragged from the same colony. also, applies to baycorals' version as well.

Rising sun didn't come from GB. Here is my list of what I have. Rising sun, Darren's setting sun, T&L, The Original Psycodelic Zebra and a GB chalice.

T&L, caged bird and GB all came from GB and are almost all Identical if not the same. I could have them confused if there name wasn't on the bottom.

The Rising sun, Darrens setting sun and PSY zebra are all 100% diffrent from anything I have ever seen/owned. Every one is unique and amazing in its own way. Also these three pieces when happy give off a metallic glow that I rarely see in pieces. I can't capture it on the camera but its amazing peoples jaw drops when they see them.

Thanks for the info and great to know, yeah its the metallic sheen of the Rising Sun that I have not been able to see in most pictures, would love to see a side by side of all your pinstripe collection

The rising sun has a glow that none of those others can match... Fwiw the sun is a different species all together than the new ones out.... Also it didn't come from gb I promise that.... I talked to Ian about it and he said a private collector and it's a Aussie piece...

Okay, I thought I'd give side by side photos since no one else is going to. I'm leaning towards the rising sun but it is a close call. :tongue:

Im sorry I dont think every piece is ready for a side by side comparison yet. Some still have some coloring up to do. Maybe a small tease.

I know for 100% it did but It is deistically diffrent from the other three GB's I have. The eyes seem to glow and it is brighter then the others. Other ones are bland and just pin stripe.

the rising sun is a sickkkkkk piece.. heres is pretty much what it looks like in real life.. maybe even better in real life. and this was a day or two after i got it and being stress from shipping. pic is under 14k phoenix bulb. I say it has colored up about 20-30 percent more since then.

Goldenbasket is not the only place these pinstripe chalices come in from...

I'd like to see them both side by side too... T&L is pretty new so I think it would need 2-3 months under aquarium lighting to really see its full potential. I already see a big difference from when we got them to now...the color is much better.

That's his own colony, not the king chalice. not sure if it's named.

Thanks FAB!! and one more thing.. i believe they are diferent species.. if Ian would put up his colony shot you guys can see its lumps up where the eyes are.. like the pink *******.. and the T and L is a flat species.

Thats correct, as far as I know the chalice I bought is the only one of all those "striped" chalices from GB, that is a 4 color chalice. The blue is much more turqouise and bright and the stripes are brighter, along with a distinct glowing eye. That said it is nothing like the Rising sun, which is in a class of its own. The CC T&L is beautiful and unique in its own way. IMO...

This is a picture of the Thunder and Lightening from our growout. According to the member that bought it and is growing it out, it's very similar to the rising sun except for a slight difference in color. He's seen both first hand. Wish I had both in my tank to compare so I could put this to sleep :sad:
