I've done the Mangroves before and they are cool, my buddy had one that was growing in a pot next to his tank that was 4' tall.

For the best results with them keep the leaves free of salt creep and mist them occasionally with freshwater.

I got 14 of them. I plan on experimenting. Lol

Sad day,

My lawn mower blenny that I've had for five years appears to be on his way out. I noticed last year that he has become increasingly thin. I increased nori feedings to daily and it seemed to help a bit in the belly area but the face and the body remained thin. Tonight when I got home he was on his side and my yellow tang was picking on him. I tricked him into a net and moved him to my prop tank which is full of display macros. I figured this was my only hope of saving him.

I'm pretty bummed. He's my oldest fish.

Thanks y'all. It's hard seeing a fish you've had for a long time start to go downhill. We used to comment about how fat it was. It still eats well but never gains weight anymore.

After a rough couple of days the blenny actually looks a bit better. Still thin but acting more normal and eating. Nothing like what I saw the other day. I didn't think it would make it through the night.

The blenny is still kicking. I've been feeding him as often as I can and he looks to be gaining a little weight.

This is one reason I think everyone needs a second tank. Either an established QT, frag tank or just a second, smaller easy to maintain display. I'm sure the blenny would be dead already if left in that tank.

I'm getting a green algae on my rocks that looks like cyano but isn't red. I cut back on the Rod's food and nori to see if it helps but so far it hasn't.

Decided to have a storm in the tank today. Added a couple extra K4s and put them behind and under the rocks to clear out detritus.

I have a 30 gallon cube that I use as a frag, QT, macro farm, BTA tank and whatever else I feel like doing with it. I think everyone with a reef tank should have at least 2 tanks up and running at all times. The spare tank has saved my livestock more times than I can imagine. It isn't much of a display so it really doesn't deserve it's own thread and I really consider it an important part of my main tank.

I grow several types of macroalgae in the tank. Some to feed the tang and blenny and some for display.

Blue Ochtodes, Dragon's Breath, Violet Dream, Ulva, Gracillaria and I have a few more coming soon. Several more I'm trying to get.

Nice!! I have been trying to get a collection of macroalgae together. I have a tank back in the fish room that is hooked to my display that has proven to grow algae like weeds. Now I am taking advantage of the setup and I am growing some algae that has some "display" qualities. I actually like the natural look!

I'm liking these macros enough I'm considering getting rid of my tang and keeping them in my reef. My tang won't eat the violet but mows down the other two like candy.
