I struggle with some montis for some reason. Sunset is a weed and I have mixed success with caps. Digis are a no go. I can't keep those for anything. Thanks for the kind words.
I was excited about the monti. If I can grow this one into something nice I'll be really proud. The cardinals are still in QT and doing well. I found one more fish I had to have so I'll likely remove the cardinals from QT this week and add them to the display.

Interesting event with an acro (or not but interesting to me. 
)
Maricultured Acropora tenuis colony, fragged into smaller pieces. One part placed in the display the other in the frag tank. Both have been fine for a couple of weeks. Came home today and both have completely RTN'd at the same time! Same coral, different tank, different light, parameters, flow, everything!
Both died at the same time. Exactly the same time but in different tanks.

No longer QT inmates.
All came trough great and are in their homes eating and doing great. I never got a pic but I also added an Orchid Dottyback. Very shy but coming around slowly. The Solon Fairy Wrasse made himself at home and pretty much owns the tank now except my Falco Hawkfish doesn't care for him. There isn't any damage being done though. The Bangaii are just such cool fish and I can see a difference in personality from the wild one I had before. I need to make an updated fish list. I moved big momma clown and jr clown to the frag tank. She's so big and aggressive now. It was like a ticking time bomb.
Agreed. It would be interesting to see if it would have done the same in several other tanks as well. Funny thing is, LiveAquaria sent me 2 tenuis by mistake slightly different colors. The one I ordered died and the one they sent by mistake is still kicking. I guess they were looking out for me. Lol

End of the year update. My toadstool hasn't opened since February. Not sure if it will make it or not but it's been closed up and has a brown algae covering it. It's been like that almost all year. Every now and then I see green polyps pop up for a short time so I know it's still alive. I just got tired of looking at it in the display so I moved it to the frag tank. I took a bunch of pics but the Christmas tree is right across from the tank so most of the pics weren't good enough since I couldn't get a good angle on the glass in some spots. The sps are doing better than ever growing fast. No signs of pests anymore.

Purple Efflo. I've had this thing forever! Has a green rim and the tips of the few branches it has are a nice blue. I always thought it was a slow grower but it's growing fast now that the tank is pest free.

AWESOME update Gabe, so glad things have turned around for you and this Reef Tank. I'm looking forward to when mine is fully recovered as well and just about to start a new tank build which will certainly help in starting with a fresh layout.

Tank is looking FANTASTIC! I hope my 75gal looks as good some day. How old is your reef now? I remember that you've had this setup for quite awhile. Amazing how those pests were inhibiting SPS growth; they are really gonna take off now. Few more questions: what method do you use again for maintaining alk and cal? CaRX, just water changes (how often and how big do you do them? What salt you use?), or two part (can you tell me roughly how much alk and how much cal you dose daily?)? Thanks, and again great job!

Thank you. I'm pushing 6 years on this tank. I think I still have a coral or 2 from my first tank 7 years ago.
I dose cal and alk with BRS dosing pumps hooked to a Reef keeper lite multitimer. It's set to dose 24 times a day alternating every half hour alk then cal. The pumps dose 1.1ml/minute and it's set to dose 8 minutes every hour so a little over 200ml of alk and cal per day. I use Reef Crystals salt and I do a 15 gallon water change maybe once a month.

Hey there, I remember waay back in Sept you got a Vertex Omega 150 w neckcleaner. I'm wondering if you've formed an opinion of its performance? Lol hope it's good bc I just installed a Vertex Omega 180i w neckcleaner that I just got on my 75gal (BRS had a great XMas sale on them). Any tips with this skimmer that you've discovered? I'd think the 150 and 180i would run similarly

The skimmer might be the best I've ever used. The build is for sure the best. It's built like a tank. I don't run the neck cleaner anymore. It worked fine but I needed the plug space for other things. It's not really needed IMO.
