I know the ritteri anemones need a lot light. Even in tanks with 400w halides, they still find the tallest rock in the tank, and reach for the surface from there.

Is there anyone who has kept one under LED's? I would love to get a purple base, but have the ecotech Radion mounted about 6" above the waters surface.

Any ideas?

TIA
Brett

That's a good question that interest me as well.

Ritteris

I have kept multiple ritteris under aquailluminations and radion.

They do well most of mine have gone right under the LEDS and stay put.

Just find a healthy one to start.

I don't think you would have enough light with LEDS to satisfy the ritteri's needs. I've had mine for the last 4 yrs, Up high under a 250w DE

Salty im positive they are enough light. Ive been keeping mertens magnificas haddonis gigantea under LEDS.

Just because a MH are so power electricity wise doesnt mean that do the job better.

Halides provide intense Light to replicate the natural sun, Ive tried many LEDs and have not had the luck as with Haildes. I even had experience with multiple Eco's

Saltydog, how high are your 250's above the water? Just asking because I was looking at a mag too and I run 3 250w se my about 10 inches above surface? Thanks

... Sorry about jumping someone else's thread....

I have a total of 4- 250w halides, My ritteri has been very happy. It has never moved. I think with LED's you risk the chance of the nem moving around. Mine is super healthy and fat. My lights are 14" above the water and the ritteri Is at the top of the aqua scape on the edge of the top of the water

Im not saying its impossible to keep with LED's, I just didn't have luck. It also depends on if its a wild nem or tank raised.

There should be no problem keeping them under leds or even t-5 as longs as a good fixture is used and with t-5 it would also require good lamps.. They do require lots of light but they require strong current and really good water chemistry and very stable conditions. These are one of the harder to keep and even harder to get healthy anemomes out there.

BroncosZOA wow those were bleached. what light was the first one kept under?

That mag

The mag was under Aqua Illuminations SOL then a Radion

The two anemones were both under Aqua Illuminations SOL.

How long has the Mag been under the Radion's?

I am currenlty using Ai lamps under full power with 70 degree optics for approxiametly 6 hours a day and my Mag is doing very well. I'll be "upgrading" to Radions in April and I am curious as to how your Mag adjusted to the change in lighting?

Mine is kept under Ecoxotics Panorama fixtures when they first came out.

Although it does hang out right at the very top of the overflow box. Did some damage to it when I moved my tank from one wall to the other and thought I was gonna lose it, but 6 months later and it's finally starting to settle down again.

Wow guys thanks for the help and the photos posted. I may kick it around a little more before I pull the trigger. I don't see the purple bases very often anyhow. Maybe I'll do it on an impulse. A ritteri nem and a purple rim efflo have been on my want list for almost ten years, maybe I need to stop kicking tires.
