Seems to me your on the right track. Your nem is colouring up and staying in the same spot. Both good signs it is going in the right direction. I would just keep doing what you are and maybe offer a small piece of fish like whitebait or lance fish, about a 3/8" piece thecway I suggested in PM and see if it takes it.

Things are still going well with the mag. I've been feeding on a more regular basis and the color is definitely coming back. Tentacle extension is still somewhat retracted during the day but at night it opens up nicely and I can even see the colors coming back even better.

That’s awesome. Mine is being weird now for almost 2 weeks. Acting like yours with the puffy base and retracted tentacles and it’s mouth is puffy like it’s feeding. Not deflating or gapping

-Since it's bleached it's deriving the majority of the nutrients from the water it's inflating it's body with...I do notice the puffiness has declines since i've been feeding more regularly.

-The shortened tentacles are a response to the high PAR and the lack of zooxanthellae. The tentacles are extending a bit more with more color coming back.

The extension of the tentacles at night may indicate a sensitivity to high PAR during the day so I may move the mag lower if I notice a change for the worse...

Let's not forget better water quality as well. Often LFSs water is high in nutrients like nitrate.

it stays like this day and night. I tried feeding it earlier today and it ate and then spit it out and got upset and closed up big time. It doesn’t deflate or gap

I also switched over to a more whiter spectrum and I’ve seen a lot of people spot light over mags and gigs with a whiter light

The one (?) thing I hate about iphones is the camera. I can't seem to get the subtle colors I see in the tank! Either way the mag is getting more and more yellow, although I'm not sure if the yellow color is zooxanthellae or not. So far so good.

Quick update…spent a week out of town and when I came back I noticed not only the yellow color increased but there are now patches of tentacles that are rich in zooxanthellae! I still can’t take a true-color pic so I’ll post what I can get for prosperity’s sake…

The zooxanthellae rich areas are directly under the kesssil A360N and was 70% intensity. I increased to 80 to see if that promotes more zooxanthellae spreading and will continue to ramp up until I see any aversion to the higher par over the next two months. T5’s are on for 5 hrs a day as well. Also, I think heavy feeding also played a large role. I was feeding small pieces of shrimp every other day to help with energy as the zooxanthellae built up. But now I’m feeding almost daily 1/4 piece of shrimp and the mag is very eager for the larger pieces and the additional color has really been more noticeable! Still a long road a head with this amazing animal!

The mag is doing well and zooxanthellae population is increasing. I can begin to see small specks of zoo’s on each tentacles now and hope to see those specs increase in size over time. Lighting on the Kessil is now at 100% at its peak time which lasts for 6 hours and T5 are on for 4 hours in morning. Feeding is still daily and is about 1/4 a shrimp. The feeding response is still very strong and have yet to see it spit out any food. I try to smash the shrimp piece between my fingers slightly to help break it up rather than giving it as a solid piece to help the mag digest it. Update: Mag is doing well and is coloring up rapidly. The more zooxanthellae that appear the more it seems to stretch to the light. So I’ve bumped up the T5 time and increased the Kessil intensity to 100% for almost the entire schedule. Feeding continues on a semi-daily basis and I think that it has definitely promoted the zooxanthellae growth.

Got a good macro shot of the zooxanthellae returning to the mag. The patches grow over time until the whole tentacle is a light shade of brown.

I just got this beautiful Ritteri in from my LSF today. It was shipped overnight and was in great condition when I picked it up (luckily got there just as they brought in their shipment from the airport!). Since it came in good condition I plan to keep it in the hospital tank for observation for the 3-4 several days with daily water changes. Hospital tank has powerhead, heater, and HOB skimmer. Assuming there is no gaping mouth or inflation deflation cycles during this time I’ll do a 50% change with my display tank water and see if there is any change there for a day or two. Then I’ll do a 100% water change with display tank water again to see if there is any change for another couple of days. Fingers crossed!!
