RKE v2 and rj11 temp compatibility

Anyone know if the rj11 temp probe will work with a rke v2 using a sl1 module? Or do I have to stick with standard iTemp probe. Sucks I need to buy a new one the system is only a week old but I cant get my temp probe to work and customer service is horrible they are impossible to get any feedback from.

I can't answer your question directly since I only have an older Reefkeeper II. Are you asking if you can use a thermistor temperature probe in place of the glass frit iTemp probe? The thermistor probe looks like this:

Here's what I know.....I originally had an iTemp probe with my ReefKeeper II and switched it out for the thermistor probe. Both probes have the RJ11 connector on the end so it was simply unplug the old and plug in the new....and then of course, calibration. Works fine on the older RKII models.

EDIT TO ADD:

Sorry, just looked up the temp probe for the Elite and it doesn't have and RJ11 end on it. The older iTemp probes had the RJ11 ends, as does the thermistor from DA.

However, I would think if you purchase a thermistor with the correct plug end (whatever it is), it would work.

Thanks for the reply. They actually have a new prob out now that looks like the iTemp probe but uses rj11. I

So my question is if I have a rke v2 and I'm having temp issues I think I need to replace my sensor what is the best to buy that will work with my system

The RKE will not work with the iTemp probe which is the one with the RJ11 connector. You will need an SL module and the probe with the molex connector to connect to the SL module of your choice. The SL1 will do this.

The RKL and Archon are the only controllers that use the iTemp directly. They were designed and released after the RKE. The curcuitry for the iTem and resides in the RKL and Archon head unit. The RKE does not have this circuitry in the head unit. The acutal probe is the same. Only the connector is different.
