Poppafish's 75 build

Hi, My name is Robert and I am a *reefer* addict!!!

I've been out of the hobby for 2yrs while trying to get on my feet and acclimated in Fl, but I am ready to get back in. In the past I have had a 5g, 20g, 55g, and a 125. All of them were softie/LPS tanks. I purchased a 75g and plan to try my hand at some SPS mixed with LPS and softies.

I drilled the back wall for a coast to coast bean animal overflow. Here are some pics of the drill process:

Liquid courage!!

Plumbers putty to hold water in the area to be drilled

Pre-drilled slate of wood used as a template for drill

Notice the duct tape on the back side of the glass. This prevents the cut out from falling and hitting the othe glass. It also prevents chipping in the hole being cut when the drill finally gets all the way through the glass.

All three holes drilled and bulkheads in place

A happy slightly buzzed me

I have recently added a bottom to the stand and sealed it so it can hold water if there's ever a leak. I did this because I moved into a new apartment that is carpeted. I also painted the back of the tank black. I used Rustolium high gloss latex paint. I like this paint on glass as it can be scraped off easy if needed. Today I will be puting together my overflow box and will post pics.

Here are some pics of the overflow I built. I decided not to go with a full coast to coast and built it 43" long. This gives me a little room on each end for returns.

Finally had some free time to install the overflow in the tank. I didn't mind using clear acrylic as it will get covered with Coraline algae anyway.
