lol, seriously. mines popping a new eye, its the size of this period at the end of this sentence . lol

I believe the cotton candy is the same as the raspberry monster, I have deat with both Rich and Donavon and they are both great to deal wih, have hooked me up on multiple occasions.

I also sort of think the mummy eye is maybe the OME ? or is there a positive distinction between the two?

there is a distinct diffrence cornbred is brighter.

dunno how similar the Oreg ME and Mengs ME compared to Cornbred's ME but I know that the Orig ME is different in a way that as it grows, the part that's exposed to lotsa light will develop the mountain dew color and the new growth will be mostly green... here's a good example... :)

Ordered several chalice frags from him, he shipped fresh cuts w/o heat packs and it took 2-3 tries for him to get me live frags. And they were tiny. And not as pretty as I was expecting from his pix. Sooo while he did try to make good on the shipping end of things, I won't be dealing with him again.

My BPC Flamethrower came from rnegret. One of the best looking in my tank. Richard is a good guy to deal with.

Here are my three mummys. They are different. I don't have the cornbread me yet, but I will get it.

Bad experience

I see all of these positive replies on Richard. I am sure he is a nice guy but he sold me a Superman chalice that wasn't a superman chalice. I questioned him about it and he said it would color up as a colony and not a frag. It is the brownest chalice in my tank. And all of my chalices are colorful and bright.

Understand that all his pics are under led's. The hills have eyes pic is led, superman chalice was under led. I know because I bought some powerbrite led's and as soon as I hooked them up and my MH went off for the day, the corals Richard sold me then looked just like the pictures.

I will never buy from him again. Which is unfortunate because I really want the cornbread pieces. But out of principal, never will.

So the cornbred ME is only bright under LEDs? I really wanted this piece too....

But if anyone has a frag of it available please pm me. :D

if you guys want to start seeing the full potential of your corals, start using leds. that's all there is to it. :)

Did you ask him what lights were used in the photos?

+1 on using leds. They can bring out spectacular colors in your corals.

It's definitely bright under 250w 14k metal halides, the brightest mummy eye in my tank. It doesn't grow as fast as other mummy eyes. I bought it almost 2 years ago. We fragged it once, took about 4 eyes off and now it has approximately 20 eyes. I get the most compliments on the cornbred trash mummy eye versus the others.

I never asked him what lights he used, I know now because I bought LED's and when they are on by themselves the chalices he sold me look like the pictures he sent me so I know they were led only.

His chalices were the first I ever bought. I have had a reef tank for over 5 years but got into chalices a year ago. didn't know much about them, and jumped in with a purchase from Richard off ebay. I know better now from experience. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way. A buddy of mine showed me how to spot saturation enhanced photos and other tweaks you can do in photoshop. I would bet good money that everyone of his photos are enhanced in photoshop. I can honestly say that the five corals I bought from him, not a single one looked like his picture when it came in, and definately doesn't look like it today a year later. And almost everyone of my chalices have great color.

He was a really nice guy, communication was excellent, he responded to all my questions about placement, flow, and colors. It's just that his corals were mis represented to me.

Just my two cents

I also have bought about a dozen chalices from Richard. They come real small, but are very nice. Some need coloring, but not much. Some seem fresh cut and die, but he always try's to make it up. He seems to be a pretty good guy, but some thing could be better.

I bought the Cornbred ME and another chalice from Richard about 3 years ago. It is the brightest in my tank. I plan on fragging it soon and will post some pics after they are healed.
