RO and Booster pump Help?

I just installed my booster pump and according to psi I am at 85psi. However, after a few seconds it actually pops off my sediment filter housing. Has anyone experienced that before? Is there away to lower PSI a bit or something I can do to prevent this?

Is this a standard threaded housing or a quick connect filter housing?

What exactly is popping off?

Have any photos?

85 is pretty standard and I'd personally run it closer to 90psi.

Also as a note you can switch it around so that the booster is after your sediment and carbon but before the RO membrane housing. Then you will see less pressure drop at the RO where it's needed most. Tap pressure is typically enough to get water through sediment and carbon filters and to the booster.

Usually the front of the booster pump there is a Allen wrench fitting that you can adjust the pressure with a Allen wrench , I personally wouldn’t go over 80 psi . You can get a auto shutoff for it so that when it reaches 80 or 85 psi ,(I can’t remember which) it shuts the pump off . You can get it at Aquafx in winter park Florida . And I also have my booster set up after the sediment filter but not because it pops the lid off .
 
you can use it the way you have it.
flow restictor is after membrane and you shouldnt remove it as it is matched to membrane gpd.
 
you should check the filter and membrane rating . most are only rated for 80psi max. i run my pump at this psi and have had no issues with leaks or lines blowing off.
 
Ok, so I should use the booster after the sediment and carbon filters?

That is where i would run one but there are lots of users that have them before their filters.

What membrane are you using that is rated for 80psi max?

Typically a housing will burst before you come close to damaging a membrane.
 
it isnt that the membrane or filter is rated so low. you have to take into account the working pressure of them meaning they are designed to filter x with a flow rate of y. when you go to high past there max rating you may not damage or cause issues , but you will diminish its ability to do the job it was designed to do. most all none commercial ro systems regardless of the manufacturer are designed to use normal city or well water pressures, around 60ish psi. this is most likely why they design them to operate best within that pressure window.
