it isnt that the membrane or filter is rated so low. you have to take into account the working pressure of them meaning they are designed to filter x with a flow rate of y. when you go to high past there max rating you may not damage or cause issues , but you will diminish its ability to do the job it was designed to do. most all none commercial ro systems regardless of the manufacturer are designed to use normal city or well water pressures, around 60ish psi. this is most likely why they design them to operate best within that pressure window.
