So I have been dosing fluconazole to get rid of the bryopsis outbreak I have been dealing with.

I noticed that there was some cyano and that corals have been rather closed. I thought that the nitrates/phosphates might be higher than usual due to the skimmer being off and the die-off. I tested the saltwater and my parameters are at:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 10
Phosphate: 0.1
Cal: 400
Mag : 1370
dkh: 8.6
ph: 8.3

Okay so that isn't so bad. I check the top off water and it is at 33 ppm! I check the DI cartridge and it almost all used up but 10% left or so - I check the water after the membrane and it is at 64. The water out of the faucet tests at 69. It seems like my membrane has failed and my RODI reservoir has been running at 30 ppm or so. I have a new membrane and DI resin coming in Friday. I should have 0 ppm water by then.

What should I do, if anything, to fix the issue - I want to be sure to do the right thing for the corals and fish while not shocking them.

Thank you in advance. This is on a 50 gallon mixed reef system.

Okay, there's nothing you can do other than change your membrane and DI resin, test and then use decent RO water until it's time to do a water change in a couple of weeks.

How old was your previous membrane??

It’s rare to have a membrane fail like that. It either didn’t seat into the housing all the way or you have bad prefilters. Getting hot destroys membranes as well. I would change out the carbon blocks at least.

+1 To this. And kindof where I was going lol

It's odd but a month ago it was at zero.

EDIT:
and I'll be sure to change the carbon filters, thanks.

Seems like you lost a seal somewhere. Did you take it apart to see if the membrane orings were in good shape? I think if you were getting the same tds output as input, you’d likely see major damage to the membrane or seals somewhere.

That's a good point I'll take it apart tonight and see what is going on.

How much water have you made in the month? if you have done a lot then that aint bad. If it has been 5 gal a week that something happen.

I hooked up my home water to it as there is a lot of chlorine in the water and buying poland springs has been driving me nuts - this may have caused it to finally go. I will ikely have to go up a size.
