What’s up reefers? I bought a aquatec 8800 booster pump for my 6 stage ro/di, and I’m really disappointed with the results. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, or if the pump is bad, but I’m only getting 40psi (tops)with the pump running. Without the pump it’s about 35. I’m thinking of returning it to bulk reef supply because it simply isn’t doing anything beneficial.

The first pic is with the pump on.
The line to the right on the second pic is going to the unit (per the arrow directions)

I believe like crabs said they are adjustable, think I remember someone recently having similar issue.

Is the pressure gauge before or after your prefilters? If it's after, your prefilters might be clogged, which will prevent the pressure from getting through to the gauge.

I should add my ro/di is a month old. I upgraded early August.

There’s an adjustment screw on the motor for +/- psi. Screw in for more pressure out for less I believe.

Have the same booster pump which has been in use for like 10 years. I’ve only had to adjust it the first time when putting it in use. I have it set at 80psi. The adjustment screw is on the bottom of the pump and requires a small Allen wrench to adjust it.

I’ll try it, I was just hesitant because brs said not to adjust it to increase pressure

The booster pump needs to be before it enters the ro system and the pressure gauge needs tobe right before the membrane, as stated in the brs instructional video this is when youll know to change out your prefilters, because most importantly is the pressure is upto around 50 psi min before it enters your membrane, if the booster pump only added 5 psi to your system there’s definitely an obstruction in the prefilters, the pumps come factory set , so don’t mess with that unless its to high

Can you post a picture of where that line, is attached to your RO/DI unit?

The ro unit is connected correctly. It’s a brs unit, so the pressure gauge was pre-indtalled.

The pump is installed from the water feed line into the ro unit. So water source - pump - ro unit.

Not sure what to write here. I just added the booster pump from BRS to my RODI and the pressure went from 50ish to 85ish. Maybe you got a defective pump, or the pump wasn't factory set correctly, or someone messed with it before you got it. I'd definitely reach out to BRS. I have an old Kent Marine with 2 prefilters, added a second membrane, and 2 DI cannisters over tbe years. Would not recommend the second membrane option with the waste from one going to the second.
