Acronym. Just like SCUBA is an acronym

Mostly acronym - derived from the letters, but could also be an abbreviation, such as CIA, FBI or the dreaded IRS

Yes, the sounding is R O D I, just as the letters suggest. Sound off each letter on it's own.

The same goes for LED. Come on you young people, it's not Ledds, it's L E Ds, just like the letters sound when spoken one at a time in series.

Would you seriously sound out anything capitalized? Except maybe NATO? Or NASA? Or NAFTA? Or BREXIT?
