I have a BRS 4 stage RO/DI with the pro kit upgrade. I know you are supposed to have a minimum pressure of 50 psi, and my water pressure is more than up to the task. I actually have to dial it down to hit 50.

What I am trying to figure out is if 50 psi is the “minimum” amount of pressure or the”optimum” amount.

I can get my pressure up over 60 psi. Making the RO water a bit faster is nice, but not at the expense of prematurely wearing out my RO membrane.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have 63 PSI from my water without booster pump and that's what I run the unit at. Never had any issues.

Thanks for the reply. Your RO membranes seem to have a normal service life running at 63 PSI? That's right about where mine is....

I think the DOW membranes coming with BRS units can handle higher pressures. If I recall correctly, BRS saw increased water production and efficiency at 70-80PSI, but going higher than than leads to increased likelihood of a failure due to increased pressure.

Mine are perfectly fine and last a long time (about a year). I take care of them, flush them after each use and monitor TDS so I replace when needed.
