Never experienced this before but my RO/DI went from normal operating pressure after booster pump to be at 90-100 PSI spike to double that, about 180 because it's off my pressure gauges range.

My RO/DI System:

Pre-Filter - 2 months old
Carbon - 2 months old
Booster pump
Pressure gauge reading 180-200 psi
Spectrapure 90 GPD Membrane to DI Y
Second Spectrapure 90 GPD Membrane off drain of first, product water to DI Y
DI Stage 1
DI Stage 2

Steps Taken:

Ran each membrane individually, still same pressure.
Unplugged booster pump, still high pressure
Drain line not blocked

At this point, not sure what I should be doing differently? Membranes are both about 5-6 months old...I'm headed to Premium Aquatics to get some supplies today so curious if changing anything up would help out? From my troubleshooting steps it seems my house pressure has went up? Any reason this would have happened, I'm on city water....No changes in any plumbing in house.

Thanks so much in advance!

Dustin

You tuned off the pump and still getting high pressure? I know where I live in the summer the water pressure coming into my house is higher than the rest of the year..

Does it seem like the water out of your kitchen or bathroom sink is flowing faster?

This and RO system error, if pump is unplugged and this is still happen, some how the water pressure in your house has went up.. I live in a older house with older pump I can control the water pressure in my house and I run it at 50 PSI. I have a booster for my RO unit so I don't have to worry about the lower pressure in my house.

Check the presure gauge, thats probably the issue. If its not a liquid filled gauge a pressure surge or spike more than likely pegged it.

+1. That's why I asked which brand. I have seen this happen on a few aqua fx units.

Sorry, yesterday was crazy. Unit is a Vertex but I made it a dual 90 GPD membranes.

Replaced the gauge, it's reading 90-100 like I normally have it running at. Bad gauge? If it has a spike like that can it be recovered or just through it out?

Toss it, either the needle has twisted on the shaft or the bourdon tube is bad.
