Dunno if this have been asked before but here goes....
When you flush the ro/di unit either manual of automatic, is there supposed to be water coming out of the product line?

Yes. Water will come out. A ball valve can be used to close off the product line.

You will get a bit, because the drain line is so small, you still get some pressure. .

Install a DI bypass valve between your RO membrane and the DI canister. Then divert the flow towards the drain while you are flushing the membrane. Then all the flush water goes down the drain and you won't have any water coming out of the product line.

That's how I have my RO/DO setup. When I flush the membrane, I don't have any water going through my DI or the product line, it all goes down the drain until the TDS drops down to 2 coming out of the RO, then I close the bypass valve.
