During the Marine Depot closing sale I purchased an entire 5 stage RO/DI unit for 50 bucks with the intensions of upgrading mine.

Dual sediment. Dual carbon. Is my plan.

I want to know if running a dual membrane is worth it?

Is it an advantage?

If I do run a dual membrane how do I plumb them? Do they both need a restrictor?

I can not find any plumbing diagrams for running a dual membrane although I've seen dual membrane RO/DIs before.

I will also be using it for our drinking water. I know not to run that part through DI but most diagrams show a final carbon before the drinking tap. Is this necessary?

Any suggestions, input, criticism or diagrams will be welcome.

Typically, a 5 stage RODI would be set up as
sediment==>carbon==>RO==>DI1==>DI2

The sediment and carbon filters protect the RO membrane. Then the DI completes the purification.
