Do you need one for a FOWLR? It really comes down to money. If I had more I would just buy it but I've spent a fortune already so will only buy if it is a must have. Any advice welcome. I have well water. TIA

Depends on your water quality. The big thing RO/DI does is remove nutrients. Well water is probably going to have a lot of those. Without the nutrients removed you are always going to be battling algae.

I am not even going say I am one of the most experienced guys in here, with that said I've had my system set up for a little over a year (72g bow front) I have both fish and just recently just started growing acropora. My first three months were nighmares with algae, after that battle I have had zero issues with water quality. Many people will say different things. Some ways work well for others and so on. The only way to know is make sure your water Is on point however you do it. And go for it. It's your slice of the ocean trials and tribulations is the fun part and most frustrating part, do what works for you, if that doesn't work try the the next. Hope this helps.
