RO/DI remineralization?

Ok so I have an RO/DI unit I bought to filter the tap for my saltwater tank. I’m very new to saltwater and I know if I used it in freshwater tans it would need to be remineralized so in saltwater would I need to do the same or does the salt mix take care of that for me?

Salt mix will do that for you.

Straight RO/DI, add salt mix, use.

You still need TDS meter for monitoring quality of the RO, if it starts creep up, time to change cartridges.

Refractometer or other salinity meter for making required concentration of the salt water and keeping it stable.

Salt mixes come in two kinds: sea (lower in Ca and Mg) and reef versions (higher Ca and Mg), and in two ranges of alkalinity, high and low. High is more usable for large tanks with 10% water changes, while low alkalinity mizes are more for ultra low nutrient systems and tanks with larger water changes, less alkalinity swing.

When mixing salt water, follow manufacturer's instructions, the procedure can vary a lot.
