Hi All, my husband says he needs to buy me one more good gift for Christmas. SO, after a few years of buying my water from the LFS, I really would like to get a good starter RO/DI system for the house. It would be used exclusively for the tank. I have an innovative marine 30L, so I don't need anything huge. I will also mention I'm in Jacksonville, FL and our tap water has very high levels of calcium, so if that's something of note, there you go. Thanks!

I got the Aqua Fx system and I have been very happy with it. I started with the reef buddy and after a month of filtering my resin was starting to change. also the volume was pretty slow too. I switch over to my present system back in May and the resin still has not changed. I have put about 400 gallons through the system sense May at 75 gallons per day or 49 minute for 5 gallons of water. Happy Happy
Oh I am an hour and a half south of you

A 4 Stage RODI unit is a good place to start. I personally use an AquaFX Barracuda 4 stage, Dr fosters & Smith has them on for $135 currently. Bulk Reef Supply sells their 4 stage for $150. The 4 stages IMO work fine, I live in a city and I have no problems producing 0 TDS water. If the 4 stage doesn't do the job, you can always purchase upgrade kits. I bought the bulk reef supply upgrade kit and put it on my AquaFX, works like a charm.

Sure your LFS is going to miss you lol....They should have suggested you to buy a RO/DI system if you've been going to their store that often.

My set up from BRS!

When I had smaller tanks, I "T" off the RO water to an DI canister and get the RO/DI water from there. If you use the 100GPD membrane, then you don't waste much RO waste water....

I did forget to turn off the "RO/DI" system a few times and water was everywhere. :)

If you do that, I suggest you have an alarm to remind you to turn off the water . Or just put the husband in charge of that. If the water spills, its not your fault :)

Thanks for your help, everyone! He ordered the spectrapure and it's on its way! Merry Christmas!

So... I got the thing. I read the instructions. I am wondering if someone can point me to a couple of good sites or videos to help me figure out how this is supposed to look when set up? We lease our home here in FL (military) and there's no drain in the garage I can run it to, so I was thinking an under the sink install? Anyone have it set up like that?

Spectrapure has many videos on their website as well as very clear hook up diagrams at the bottom left of their main webpage, or just call them, they can walk you through it in no time.
