Question. I just got my unit and I heard it is not supposed to be stored empty. The directions don't talk about what to do when it's disconnected from the water source. Do I need to make sure no water exits and plug the lines, or can I just move it and store it until I need next time?

I store under the sink or in kitchen cabinet. I use it every week or two. You don't have to do anything really. The unit when off stores water in the canisters as you do want to keep di resin and membranes wet at all times.

Before I had mine permanently installed on the wall, I used to use it every two week hooked up to my sink. When I was finished I would disconnect, roll the lines in a circle and use a binder clip to hold them on the top bracket. It won't leak as long as you have the input and output lines above the water line in the canisters.

You want to store it with water in the unit so the membrane, prefilters and DI resin don’t dry out in storage. So in portable situations, I suggest using a couple of John Guest quick connect style valves to trap water inside of the unit when you’re done making water.
