Hi all,
I have a 30 gallon long and I’m looking to get a Ro/di system. Can anyone recommend me one? I only need less than 10 gallons per week and I’m not looking to spend a small fortune.
Thanks!

Look at Aqua fx
Remember that you might upgrade some day

I have an AirWaterIce system. It was about $150 and I've been very happy with it.
Those both look good, but I don’t need anywhere near that much water. Are there any smaller units you could recommend?

AquaticLife has a 50 GPD system for around $60 on Amazon. I'm not familiar with the brand though. I don't think there are any smaller units than that.

I know the gallons per day sounds like a ton of water, but in practice mine takes about 2.5 hours to fill a 5 gallon jug.

I would just get the larger one. I only have a 15 gallon and I use a 75 GPD unit. They are slowww and you will burn through it faster than expected once you account for keeping an extra resevoir of water on hand, filling the ATO, maybe drinking water, etc. Plus with a smaller unit you will need to replace the filter media more often. The BRS basic unit is $150.

I HATE waiting on water, so I went with a 400gpd system for my 40b. BEST decision I ever made. Takes about 20-25 minutes to make 5 gallons. Costs more up front, but I can make a lot of water quickly, which is especially helpful in an emergency situation!

Also, when it takes so long to fill a container it is very easy to forget about. I fill containers in my laundry sink, so it doesn't flood or anything but I've wasted a lot of water and fitler/resin life letting it run over night into an overflowing container.

I now use Brute cans and install a float to stop the flow when full. No more overflows, and no needing to watch the can SLOWLY fill.

I have a 30-gallon tank uses the Aquaticlife 50GPD 4stage RODI system. It works really well as long as everything else goes as planned with the tank. It does not work for those times when you need an additional 10 gallons for an emergency water change (there is only so much water that you can store around the house in 5g buckets). It takes too long to make water and the wastewater to RODI ratio is about 5:1.

No, I would not get this one again, but this is the only decent small RODI unit that gives 0 TDS water. I would go for a much bigger unit next time.

Whats this unit called?

Im going to go with one of the $150 basic units. Before I sign off does anyone have any helpful pieces of advice they'd like to share?

I’ve been using the aquatic life twist in 100GPD 3 stage with the dual twist in aquatic life di cartridges for years with no problems and easy to change filters

I added a meter to mine that measures TDS as the water goes into the DI chamber and out of the system. I got it right on the AirWaterIce website and it was easy to install.
