RO/DI System

Any advice on RO/DI systems, where to purchase and what to look for?

I have a 75 gal DT with live rock and sand. Been running for about 4 months now with several gorgonia, peppermint shrimp and a few hermits. We plan to get some seahorses soon. I plan to set up a ~50 gal container to mix and store water.

BRS sells many different variances of RO/DI units, as well as replacement filters and media for them.
Another great source is SpectraPure
Which unit you get is going to depend on your source water. The more TDS your source water contains, the more stages of filtration you're going to want

Can’t go wrong with BRS.

I purchased mine from Marine Depot. If you purchase from MD, you get 15% of all replacement cartridges and resin in the future.

Spectrapure is also at the top of the list. All they do is water filtration. I'm really happy with the 6 stage model. They have a really nice turnkey ATO as well.

Hopefully your water pressure is good enough though

Make sure to get some parts to upgrade. Check out my build below. Get a replacement tee to tap into under sink water supply. The BRS one is cheap plastic, get a tee valve from Amazon. Otherwise, BRS RODI is great. I also installed another tee between RO and DI for drinking water. Highly recommend, makes it dual purpose.

You can do without I think but you are going to get like 1 gallon per day instead of which ever stage you go with
People say you need patience in reefer
But I just don’t have the patience to wait on ro/di water lol

I'm tired of lugging water around. I went ahead and sprung for the 150gpd with water saver. I figure at 1/2 the waste it won't take long to break even on the extra $36.
