Anybody know of a portable or one that can be hooked up to a normal sink easily that is small but works well? Like where I can just hook it to the faucet to run it and once I'm done I can take it back off the faucet? The unit can go under the sink but I need the connections to be something I can just hook and unhook. Not sure if this would work or not https://www.chewy.com/aquatic-life-ro-buddie-four-stage/dp/146155

With so many different faucet styles and their related aerators, there is no one size fits all solution. What is keeping you from using an adapter since you will be storing it under the sink anyways? Something like this which goes in line with the cold water connection to the faucet https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-ez-faucet-adapter-kit.html . Make a waste drain "U" that will hang on the sink and it would be portable with no permanent installation.

This is why I asked. I'm not sure exactly what is out there. I was hoping for suggestions like you made.

This will work for a cheap model. Not the best idea for a few reasons but its better than no ro/di. You need to first make sure your faucet screen unscrews. You will need to find a John Guest fitting that has the same threads and converts that to the tubing connection. If you find the threads can not be matched or it is a female thats needed there are adapter kits that will convert your faucet so you can hook up a garden hose.

Looking at the RO Buddie, it seems you have to buy their specific cartridges, it's not a universal type for any but the membrane itself. This is unlike most other RODI systems where you have many different choices on filter and DI resins available. At least it doesn't appear that they are very expensive.

not expensive but not good quality either.

I have used the RO buddie for 3 years now and added the DI to it. I make 30 gallons a week and it works great. I have had zero issues with it. I buy the carbon and sediment filters every 6 months. I have replaced the RO once. My TDS out of the tap is 220. 5lbs of DI resin has lasted a couple years. I only change once every 3 months. FWIW it has been a solid little unit for me. Especially at the price point.
I have it hooked to my hose spigot on my porch and waste water drains to the pool.
