Hello
I live in the Mohave Desert, our water here is strictly well water. We do have HIGH levels of Arsenic out here.
Simple question will these RO/DI units remove this?
Thanks,

Trevor

Yes and No. There are two forms of arsenic, Arsenic 5 and Arsenic 3. RO by itself even without DI is excellent and removing Arsenic 5. If you have Arsenic 3 at high levels it may require preoxidation to convert that to Arsenic 5 before it can be completely removed by RO.

Deionization when preceded by RO is very effective at both forms of arsenic but RO/DI is devoid or all minerals so has a very blah or bland taste and is not refreshing. There are many arguments that RO/DI is bad for you but none are proven since Man cannot live on water alone, we must eat solid foods to survive. If you consume large quantities of RO/DI, such as in the desert Southwest where we both are and you drink lots of water then its probably not a good idea. You could add drink mixes to the water to add something back and to give it a taste or companies like Spectrapure manufacture remineralization cartridges you can add to your RO/DI. Many popular coffee houses like the big one we all know about use these for making their coffee so it tastes better.
