My lfs is out of RO water so my question is, is distilled water or purified water that you can get in the gallon jugs at publix basically the same and safe?

ro is the most pure sometimes it can take up to 3 times to distilled water to become as pure as ro/di depending upon the water source it comes from purified water is the least clean mostly from a natural springs ran threw a micron and sediment filter so to awnser your question if you can't get ro/di distilled water is the next cleanest

I do not have a RODI unit and buying my 1 gallon of water at Walmart and Target. I have TDS meter and it reads 0 all the time. Hope this helps.

If you must purchase jugs of water get distilled. Purified is usually just RO, not RO/DI and in most cases is remineralized or TDS is added back in for human taste.

In order RO/DI would be the most pure, distilled is a very close second if the still is serviced regularly and RO only is third since a membrane is only 90-98% effective without the added DI step. RO Drinking Water or "Purified" water again is usually remineralized so it tastes good and is refreshing so should be avoided, especially if it is from vending machines.
