Just curious what other aquarists do with the wastewater from the RODI units. Do you just toss it, use it for other applications reef related, non-reef related? Can it be used for anything?

I collect my wastewater in a 55 gallon drum that has a MAG18 attached to a hose. Here's the 55 gallon drum:

Just to the left of the drum is the washing machine. I use this water to do the first water fill on the washing machine. Now I also installed a sillcock where I can take this same hose and run it up to the sillcock. So in the warmer months I can water the plants outside. Here you can see the gray hose coming from the 55 up to the sillcock:

I plumbed my wastewater to a rainwater barrel identical to this one which drips feeds my plants on one side of my house.

It Is nice to see that you guys are finding uses for your waste water. We all need to think about water conserving our water resources before we run out.

I collect mine in barrels and the wife uses it to water all he plants and flowers they seem to flourish.

Water my garden for the most part. Come pool season ill fill the kiddie pool with it. After a few days I pump the pool water to the garden and refill the pool. Winter its tuff, in 2013/14 I made an ice rink in the back but that was murder on the grass. Like the idea of using it in the wash. Need to figure that out with my floor plan

Anyone use it to water their indoor houseplants? Any ill affects? I am wanting to but I am concerned about the concentrated amounts of minerals and metals in the wastewater.

I guess it just depends on what's in your water and how well your filters work before the membrane. In most cases it's just fine because it is mostly filtered but on the other hand what is not filtered out before the membrane is now in concentrated numbers in the waste water.

You can try it and if they don't like it don't use it. I however wouldn't try it for washing your car unless you like spots.

I have septic so it goes down the drain and feeds the ground that way. My whole house RO system is another story. I can't use it's waste because we have saltwater intrusion in the well so it gets pumped the the empty lot near my house. No ill effect on the palm tress so far.

Oh ya just a fair warning there is a guy on here that will give you all kinds of grief about it and such just ignore him as most people do.

I already did one of these threads some time ago and you see what I'm talking about.

I putting it straight down the drain in floor that my skimmer and genesis system goes through to rinse everything down nothing stinks perfect don't have to waste other water cleaning it out.

Catch mine In 5 gallon buckets and water the wife's plants and fruit tree's between rains.

I treat and use it for WC on my sons cichlid tank and any additional goes in the yard to water plants

I ran a (huge) freshwater planted tank with mine for about 2 years. Now it goes out to the backyard for the tortoises.
