Hey everyone,
I'm curious to know if there are any better uses for RO/DI waste water than just putting it down the drain. Could I use it for freshwater fish as long as I treated the water with conditioner? Any other practical uses for it? Thank's everyone!

Water your garden or plants with it. It is dirtier than the normal tap water as it has a higher concentration of the minerals the RO removes. However if has had cloring and some other minerals removed by the sediment filter and carbon blocks... Still use for watering flowers or washing clothes.

Some tropical fish like hard water so it may have a use there. It will have on average, 20 to 25% higher TDS than the tap water was to begin with since it contains the concentrated TDS from the treated water too. My tap TDS in Phoenix is over 600 already so I choose to send it down the drain for recycling rather than use it for other purposes.

I have only a 55 so don't have much waste water. I run it into a 5 gallon bucket, put a load of clothes in the washer, pour it on top and let the washer continue to fill to the right level to wash the clothes. Set the washer for hot water since the water you put in is cold and you will get a warm water wash if that is what you want. It is labor intensive rather than automated but it makes me feel good that I am not wasting the water.
