I tested my rodi water this morning and my tds test kit said 036 is that considered high and what is the causes that high, what is the acceptable range to used..????..thank you..!!!

DI should be producing 0 tds. That number you have is high for simply an RO unit. A good membrane has a rejection of 98% or so.

More info needed....such as:

What is your incoming TDS?
What's your water pressure?
Who's unit and how many stages?
How old are the other filters?
Do you have a pressure guage on the RO unit?

I got my water from the grocery store and I never test the water when got it from the store until today bcuz some of my sps are not looking great..(the tds kit I just got it yesterday) well thank you guys..!!..good thing that i got the tds kit..hehe

Are you referring to a handheld TDS meter?

How are you testing and in what? Was the container the RO/DI is in used for something else previously like water changes, if so it could contain salt residue which may or may not be bad but will skew the readings.

Go to your LFS or grocery and test their water straight out of the machine or their storage container so you have a good idea what the water really is and not the containers. If it is still high TDS then find a different source or buy your own RO/DI system for around $140.

Those grocery store filtered water dispensers are usually poorly maintained. In my experience the filters are either so old or not even being used and you're getting tap water pretty much. I would either start using rodi made at home or distilled off the shelf in jugs.

WAY to high...the water coming out of my RO membrane is about 2-6 TDS and 0 after DI. Once I see 1 TDS coming out of DI resin, I start replacing the DI resin.

Yes azddesertrat it's handheld,,i tested my water straight from the bucket where I filled my water with..and I would love to get my own rodi water unit but I lived in a rental place..

Pete I have to agreed with you on that one..the grocery store where I usually get my water from there is no longer have the refill machine since then I went to a new place to get my water and a lot of my acros started to go down hill, well at least i know where my problem coming from..I really appreciate for you guys iinput it help me a lot

I lived in a rental apartment for 8 years with my last reef tank. I set up a temporary RoDI station in the bathroom. I installed it under the bathroom sink and just ran it with a tap attachment.

Much better than depending on grocery store for RO water. You can keep a closer eye on the TDS and just change the media as needed.

Test the water from the source, not the bucket. The bucket probably contains salt residue or if it is new plastic mold compounds and oils. Rinse the bucket well with a vinegar solution and use it only for RO/DI water, use a separate bucket for water changes and cleaning pumps and powerheads.

You need to know what the treated TDS is and you will not get that testing from the container, draw a sample directly from the source using the cap on the TDS meter. Also make sure to triple rinse the meter and cap with RO/DI before capping and and putting it away so it stays clean and accurate.

i rent as well and have a 40glbreeder and 150 mix reef my rodi setup sit on my kitchen counter when it hook up i hook it to the sink and the drain line down the drain i fill 2 38 gl brut trash cans 1 4 salt other 4 fresh water
