Ok those of you that are using an RO/DI system and have water stored into a water tank then pumped into your sump. Question is how are you all doing it. Do you all run 3 float switches 1 for the sump and 2 for the water tank. 1 that is set low to tell the system to turn on and one set to turn system off. Hope that sound right. I'm using a reef keeper elite for this if it can be done. Thanks for any input.

My RODI unit fills a Brute for storage and shuts off with a float valve when full. The brute is elevated and has a valve on the outside near the bottom, which I use to fill up a smaller top-off container - this is just a precaution I take in the event of a malfunction with the auto-top off unit in the sump (a smaller reservoir of water that could get dumped into the system vs. the larger volume in the brute storage can). I have to manually fill the smaller top-off container every 5-6 days by opening the valve on the brute.
The ATO unit in the sump is a float switch that turns on a pump in the smaller top-off container, which adds RODI water to the sump via hose.

I have two tanks; a 90 gallon and 28 gallon

On the 90 I have a dual float switch set up in the sump (Aquahub). There are two so that one acts as a backup when the first one fails. This has already happened. I have nothing in my reservoir. However, it is visible (outside the sump cabinet) and I can see when it needs water.

On the second tank I have a JBJ ATO which has that option of putting one float in the reservoir while the other monitors the tank. I purchased this used and just set it up to find one of the float switches is bad. So I’m currently running the one switch in the DT. The “safety” on the JBJ is that the pump only runs for a few minutes. Longer than that, it shuts off the system…..so no floods (or burning out the pump).

Both my reservoirs are manually filled.

I use this to control my RO/DI to the ATO storage:
Dual Float Solenoid Valve Controller Assy w/ 1/4in Sol Valve
The two low voltage DC float switches start and stop the RO/DI based on level, I have it installed so the 23 gallon Rubbermaid can must drop 11 gallons before its starts again to elimintae the effects of TDS creep.

I control the sump ATO with this which is adjustable anywhere from 1/10" to 4" user adjustable with the touch of a button:
Auto-Top-Off System - UPLC-II Liquid Level Controller
It comes with the same peristaltic pump their LiterMeter uses and is bulletproof. It has multiple levels of safety so it would be about impossible to fail.
