Not long as it just runs off.

Ok sorry just had to.

Should be almost indefinite as theres not anything in there.
If the container is clean, sterile and sealed with a lid.
Then should be good for a long time.

Thank you for the reply, I have a 500 gal plastic tank I was going to use as my clean water catch. As I interpret it, I should be fine with that.

Thats great. I have a 300g Norwesco vertical that I am bleaching at the moment.
Then I am going to allow to let dry, and clean with alcohol let dry.
Rinse with fresh RO/DI and fill it up.

I though I was doing good with my 60 gallon Norwesco tank.

This must have been a typo then, I was impressed with the 500g but you say its a 60g

Is there a shelf life for RO/DI water?
Environmental factors must be considered, same reason you should not drink water, even RO water that's been stored for long periods without chemical disinfectant (chlorine). Bacteria WILL grow. I would invest in a UV sterilizer looped into a circulating pump system, or perhaps a couple internal UV units to at least keep the RO water stirred and sterilized.

Bacteria from the atmosphere at the top, hanging around on interior tank surfaces, even the plumbing you use to fill the tank are bound to proliferate at some level. And if you chlorinate to support long-term storage you've just eliminated almost all the benefit of having RO water to start with.

I would recommend considering the UV sterilizer and something like a small dose of Melafix.

Highjacking!

So these are septic tanks? Brand new could be used to store water? RODI only or salt water too?

Thats not a septic tank in the picture you posted.
But yes the one pictured can be used for both salt and fresh water storrage.
Any container you use just has to be food grade for humans.
If not the material its made from can leach bad stuff into the water.

For reef use, why would one be concerned about bacteria growing in top off water?

What?

People have been storing RO/DI for years with 0 issues. I myself have stored 50G for months at a time and still measured 0 TDS with no slimy growth(bacteria). If the water is kept airtight, how does bacteria get into it?

Besides, like Randy said, who cares about a little bacterial growth in top off water?

It was the OP's 500G typo that threw me. I was thinking... How long is this guy planning to store water? He'll be dipping into that 500G tank a bunch of times and bound to contaminate it over a period of several months.
My bad!
